Escape Dead Island - Complete Review

Hey there fellas am back with yet another review for my fellow gamers. Its 'Escape Dead Island' well its a spin off  game created by Deep Silver based on the game 'Dead Island' in an attempt explore more of Dead Island universe which would be very much appreciated by the hardcore fans of the franchise. Lets just hope i do justice in rating out the game.

Story/Plot

Well the game focuses on the base origin of the 'Dead Island' universe where game starts off with and puts you in the boots of a certain Ninja/Secret Agent investigating the lab placing him literally at the time when outbreak begins , after a few shabby levels the game jumps forward 6 months where 3 of the aspiring journalist going to the island of Banoi in order to investigate about the infestation as the news about the outbreak was suppressed. Where you 'Cliff Calo' are the protagonist of this third-person action shooter and as expected all three of them are now stranded on the island and struggling  for survival and trying to gather proof and build up their story to reveal about the truth about the island ,  i mean it seemed a bit nuts to me but whatever floats their boats.

As the title suggest you are trying to escape this zombie island and the plot depicts that journey of your struggle and the hardship you face during the island. They even try to explore deeper into the little world of Dead Island and as said before it would be very much exciting for hardcore fans of the franchise , which to be honest doesn't includes a larger demograph. The game also digs deeper into the origin story of the outbreak and adding a bit of a mystery flare at some places making the game takes you through pretty mixed curves showing its ups and downs but sadly no matter how much interesting the plot goes at some point the downward curve overlaps the positive part. To be honest at a point right during my play through i paused the game and started wondering why ? whats the point of this nonsense , the more i played this game the more it seemed to me like a zombie version of Far Cry 3 and that too not i a good way.

Gameplay

Well as for a Third-Person Action-shooter the game feels a bit limited , even with an island given to explore which are filled with zombies there is literally nothing to do , even the mission objective feel just like going from one point to another killing off a couple of zombies along the way maybe encountering a new zombie or two , don't get me wrong there are bits and pieces to enjoy about the game but really its just in bits and pieces .The combat was supposed to be the cool part of the game which i really loved in the original Dead Island games but what you get is really pathetic and doesn't even capture a single fraction of awesome zombie killing of the Original series which was he center of attraction in those games. In this all you can do either shoot , lame kick on zombie's face and randomly wave melee weapons on the infected or sneak from behind to get a stealth kill , speaking of which when you go straight to a zombie's face and then move past round him to sneak from behind for a stealth kill that is just complete non sense i mean nobody is that much brain dead . The game tries to compensate by adding a bit more vulnerable character who can be infected by the virus so you want to form a strategy before jumping headstrong, they also try to offer various types of weapons to change the pace of combat but its way to homogeneous to be effective or even enjoyable, although i would agree that splashing the face of the zombie by a headshot never gets old.

The missions you take on also doesn't have any depth to them , as mentioned before they are all basically going from one point to another while killing zombie on the way although sometimes the game play is not so linear as in many sections of the level there are many object to interact to which offers you a slight different path or approach towards your destination which feels like a sort of release from the boring linear approach and sadly that's the only positive comment i could say about it and not to mention that the game is filled with bugs and glitches which would have easily suppressed any major positive factor if this game had any , you all must think am judging way too hard but believe me i tried for looking for positive stuffs for hours but there was nothing much to begin with of that anyway.

Visuals/Sound FX

Well the only approval this game will get from me in some sort of the way is by its visuals as there is not much wrong you can go by adapting the comic book art style , the visuals may not give you any eye gasm while playing but at least its decent and easy on the eyes . The visuals may not be the best in comic art style like borderlands series showing radiance while playing but still it is one the major factor of the game which made me survive this game till the end.

There is nothing much to say about sound fx apart from the fact that it has a crappy/cheesy acting and a music score which i didn't hated.

Final Worlds

Now every once in a while there comes a game which not only makes me think of myself as a cynical critic but also makes me question myself why do i even play video games and Escape : Dead Island lies on the borderline of that category although there were some enjoyable moments but still playing games like this makes me wonder what were Devs thinking while making crap of a game like this one. Now the hardcore fans of the dead island may want to try it out and some of them may even enjoy it but if you are not one of those people i would suggest to just avoid the game.

Pros - Comic Book Art Style

Cons - Buggy , Glitchy & repetitive linear gameplay , cheesy voice acting , bland storyline

"You should ESCAPE on this outbreak "
